MISSION AND VISION STATEMENT:
The mission of Albany Unified School District is to provide excellent public education that empowers all to achieve their fullest potential as productive citizens. AUSD is committed to creating comprehensive learning opportunities in a safe, supportive and collaborative environment, addressing the individual needs of each student.
 
 
MEETING NORMS: 
1. Maintain a focus on what is best for our students.
2. Ensure a safe environment for all views to be expressed, treating each other, staff, and the public respectfully. 
3. Endeavor to find common solutions to issues through collaboration without sacrificing one’s beliefs in what is best for students.
4. Make a commitment to effective deliberation, each one listening with an open mind while others are allowed to express their own points of view even if one disagrees.

PUBLIC COMMENT FOR MATTERS NOT ON THE AGENDA
The Presiding Officer will invite the public to speak on items that are not on the agenda. The Brown Act limits the Board's ability to discuss or act on items which are not on the agenda; therefore, such items may be referred to staff for comment or for consideration on a future agenda. Board practice limits each speaker to no more than two (2) minutes. If there are many speakers, this time may be decreased to allow more to be heard.

ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING (9:40 PM)
The Board believes that late night meetings deter public participation, can affect the Board's decision-making ability, and can be a burden to staff. Regular Board meetings shall be adjourned by 10:00 p.m. unless extended to a specific time determined by a majority of the Board.

HOW TO SUBMIT PUBLIC COMMENT:
Members of the public may attend the Board of Education meetings and request to speak during “Public Comment on Matters Not on the Agenda” as well as on any item listed on the agenda during the time of that item. Board practice limits each speaker to no more than two (2) minutes, and speakers will not be permitted to cede their time to others. If there are many speakers, this time may be decreased to allow more members to be heard. 
Please note: if you provide your name and/or address when speaking before the Board of Education, that information will become a part of the official public record, which will be posted online and subject to disclosure, and the official minutes will be published on the Internet. 
1. In Person: You may approach the podium to comment on items. To ensure accurate information is captured in the Board meeting minutes, you may complete the “Speaker Slip” provided on the table and hand it to the clerk when speaking.
2. On Video Conference: Log in to the webinar and click the “Raise Your Hand” button to request to speak when Public Comment is being taken on an Agenda Item. You will be unmuted when it is your turn to comment. After the allotted time, you will be re-muted.
