**COVID-19 UPDATE – PUBLIC MEETING GUIDELINES**
Consistent with Assembly Bill 361, effective October 1, 2021, and the continued state of emergency (COVID), the Albany Unified School District Board of Education and appropriate staff will participate in Board meetings via phone/video conference until further notice. The public is invited to watch and participate in Open Session via the methods below:

HOW TO SUBMIT PUBLIC COMMENT:
The public is encouraged to address the Board on any topic on the Agenda. The public will also be invited to speak on items that are NOT on the agenda under the section “Persons to Address the Board on Matters Not on the Agenda” if that section is included in the agenda. Special meetings do not normally include that section. Instructions on how to submit public comment are as follows:
MISSION AND VISION STATEMENT:
The mission of Albany Unified School District is to provide excellent public education that empowers all to achieve their fullest potential as productive citizens. AUSD is committed to creating comprehensive learning opportunities in a safe, supportive and collaborative environment, addressing the individual needs of each student.
MEETING NORMS:
CLOSED SESSION (5:30-7:00PM)
The Board will hold Closed Session via phone/video conference and by invitation only.
The Board may convene to Closed Session before or after the public meeting under the authority of the Brown Act, including, but not limited to Government Code sections 11126(a)1; 35146; 54954.4; 54956.8; 54956.9; 54957; and 54957.6

While the public is encouraged to address the Board on any topic on the agenda, the President will invite the public to speak on items that are NOT agendized during this section. Please know that the Brown Act limits the Board’s ability to discuss or act on items which are not on the agenda; therefore, such items may be referred to staff for comment or for consideration on a future agenda. Board practice limits each speaker to no more than two (2) minutes. If there are many speakers, this time may be decreased to allow more to be heard. Please see "How to Submit Public Comment" above for instructions.
